Re: {bb} Problems with Sending Mail
Jeanne,
This is the case for our network as well. When a notification
from the BigBrother server (RHEL 3.0) needs to be sent out, it
forwards the information to sendmail which forwards the information
onto the exchange server. It gets the exchange server IP
information from an MX record lookup for the domain which the email is
being sent to. In this case, I don't think the messages are
properly getting to sendmail because sendmail is forwarding smtp
messages to the exchange server fine, as is the case when I use the
page-admin feature of BigBrother, or if an event occurs on a client
which is on the internal network. I have also tested sendmail
from the command line to send test messages to users on the mail
server, and this works properly. That is why I am looking for a
way to troubleshoot where the information is getting stuck.
Thanks for the input,
Jeff

Jeffrey,
This isn't exactly the answer you want, but in our network we route all
mail through the mail server. The mail server must have a real email
account to allow that mail to be sent out. I would start there to see if
anything has changed.
