Thank you for the answer. I feel so stupid after beating my head against the wall for two days and finding out something that *should* have been obvious to me. (Humble Pie doesn't taste good, if anyone's interested. :-0 )
To my credit, there is this step in the README.INSTALL file, which I followed to the letter....
"but first add an entry for this client in the etc/bb-hosts file on your BBDISPLAY/BBPAGER/BBNET host.
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx this.host.name #
Then copy the BBDISPLAY/BBPAGER/BBNET bb-hosts file that you just modified into this directory on the client:"
There's nothing in that step that tells me to do the obvious. I know, I know, it SHOULD be obvious, but I was following the documents for a program that I had very little experience with. Isn't that what you're supposed to do?
At any rate, my problem is solved and I'm off an running now. Thanks to all who responded.
