Others have complained about this, but I've yet to see any
difference in BB that could account for the creation of
attachments. If your mail is routed through an Exchange server,
I would start by looking at that. Micro$oft have their own ideas
about e-mail formatting.
If you still think that BB is to blame, just create a local
recipient (on your BB server) and have a look at the structure
of the messages that are being created. Also, if you do find
the configuration option(s) that allow Exchange to behave in
this manner, it would be helpful if you could let the list
know.
