I ran into this as well. There is a –no-ares
flag you might want to try adding to the bbtest-net comment in the $BBHOME/bin/bb-network.sh
file.

had configured win 2000 and win 2003 servers. I had added dns directive in the
bb-hosts file. The dns service is up on the server then also the dns
column show red. Anybody aware of the problem.
