Depending on the type of information and the level of detail you
are looking for, this can require specific solutions for each
OS or device type. One thing that I've sometimes found useful is
to use this:

  http://freshmeat.net/projects/cfg2html/

It can be updated and retrieved using "cron" and displayed using
the "notes" link of BB (section 5.4 of the manual).
