About 2 years ago I grabbed an idea from the "bb-hist" script
on www.deadcat.net, and implemented this style of history
display in the bbgen implementation of the status history.

So I'd suggest looking at bbgen (or Hobbit - it's successor)
on hobbitmon.sourceforge.net, or the original bb-hist script
which is probably still available on deadcat.

As I recall it, the bb-hist script was pretty much a drop-in
replacement for the BB history CGI script.
