Re: {bb} Upgrading from bb1.9c to bb1.9h

Thank you for prompt response.  I appreciate it.

The server installation went fine; however, since i didn't have the client software installed  all of my client tests turned purple (as you stated).  I will install the client software and troubleshoot as needed to make this part work.

If i understand correctly, now that the new BB version (in my case bb1.h) requires to have both the server and the client software installed on the same box (for the client tests to work) we will have both the bbd and the bb daemons running in parallel.  Is this correct?

I have another question once i am ready to add new clients, how will I create the client tarball?  In bb1.9c i used to run the /usr/local/bigbrother/bb/install/bbclient client_name.  For 1.9h do we use the original client software (i.e. BBCLT-bbc1.9h-btf.tar) or do we use a different mechanism?  Let me know.

Thank you!

In short, yes. It should be possible to retain the older BB installation
and modify it to run as a client, but I wouldn't recommend doing that.
Once you've installed the new server part, adding the matching new
client part shouldn't give you any problem.

That looks like a good plan. The client-side tests are no longer
included within the server software, so you will need to install
the client software to get those. You can wait until your happy
with the operation of the new server, but the local client tests
will evetually turn "purple" unless you tidy them up.

Cheers, Phil.
