Could you give us some details about the kind of switch you'd like to monitor ?
configmaker generates the main mrtg config. 
indexmaker generates a page with images that match a period (week, month, day, etc). 
Is your MRTG process running ? 
By default, MRTG runs in one-shot mode, so you have to set a cron job to run it every 5 minutes 
Or add "RunAsDaemon: yes" in your mrtg config file. 

Are the images correctly generated ?
