Re: {bb} Follow up to problem - still having it...
At 10:10 AM 12/12/2005, you wrote:
When I telnet from any machine, including locally to port 1984, I get
a message in the server's BBOUT file that says:
Mon Dec 12 10:08:35 2005 bbd Connection hung from x.x.x.x (dropped)
Where x.x.x.x is the ip address of the machine attempting to connect.
In this case, the dropped is just a function of your test. I ddn't look at
the code but when I did a telnet to a display server and sat for a few, say
5 seconds, the "...hung...dropped" message occured.
So I know BB is accepting connections, it's just not letting anything
happen
it would appear.
First thing to check is to see if your messages are actually getting to the
"front end" of the display server.
sign on to the bb server with an interactive session. cd
..../bbvar/logs. see if logs ffrom the server of interest appear (or any
logs for that matter). If there are (and I'm betting there are), look at
some with view or another readonly editor. see if they are actually being
sent from a client (status is , probably, green, red, yellow). if it is
purple, it is most likly generated by the dispaly server it self.
If there are valid entries in .../bbvar/logs, the the problem is that the
display server is not displaying them. things to look for are that the
hostname appears EXACTLY the same name as the log entry except the "period
testname" of course.
That's as far as I can go without knowing more about what your're seeing.
