RE: {bb} Question about temperature-larrd.pl script

Yes, I think you've got it now.
bb-bbexttab has larrd/larrd.pl.
bbclient/ext/larrd directory is a symlink to /usr/local/larrd, this is
step 5 in the INSTALL document. Once you put temperature-larrd.pl in
there, and add "temperature" to @DATALIST in larrd-config.pl, larrd.pl
will run temperature-larrd.pl, which will look for
'hostname.temperature' logfiles generated by (e.g.) temperature.sh, read
them, and RRD-store the values. Also graphs will be created.

Hope this helps,
Rick

Cool. So do I only need to put larrd/larrd.pl in the ext directory?
Rick,

Thanks for the pointers, but now I've got another question.
I had been putting the externals that I wanted to run (up-larrd.pl,
temperature-larrd.pl, etc.) in the $BB_Client_HOME/ext/larrd directory,

adding that script to bb-bbexttab and restarting the client
on the BBDISPLAY server. It sounds like you are saying I only
need to have larrd/larrd.pl in the bb-bbexttab and ext/larrd, and
then control the collectors via the DATALIST in larrd-config.pl?

Sorry to be so thick about this, I'm still trying to understand how
LARRD works. Fortunately I know BB and RRD, so this shouldn't
be all that hard, right?

Thanks,
Paul

They are set by larrd-config.pl. Add "temperature" to @DATALIST in
larrd-config.pl and then larrd will run temperature-larrd.pl.

Sorry to bother everyone again...

I've got a Solaris 8 box, larrd is installed and working correctly.
Now I want to branch out and add the temperature-larrd.pl
to the base install, and as I understand the code, I only need
this script on the BBDISPLAY server. When I try to run this
on my test box, I'm getting:

Empty compile time value given to use lib at
/opt/bbc/ext/temperature-larrd.pl line 34

It specifically involves this line:

use lib $ENV{'RRDPM'};

and I've got three of these environmental vars that I don't seem to
have
defined anywhere. I'm running this on a 1.9h server, not on the
client.

RRDPM
LARRDPM
BBRRDS

Should I be setting these environment variables someplace?

Thanks,
Paul
