Now I understand why tests were intermittently going "purple" when half
of our hosts became unreachable.
Unfortunately, that's not our only issue today. Big Brother doesn't
send out all the pages it should. We run an SMTP server on the
standalone Big Brother server. Both the mail server logs and the
/opt/bbvar/acks/notifications.log show that Big Brother is not even
attempting to send out pages/emails to our cell phones during network
troubles. It is, however, sending e-mail to a non-pager e-mail address
(sort of a catch-all admin e-mail).
BB e-mails admin@ourdomain.com immediately upon "reds" and upon
recoveries -- we got these messages. I've configured it to wait 7
minutes before sending an e-mail to our cell phones, and then wait 240
minutes to send again. We did NOT get these messages, and the logs make
it look like Big Brother didn't even try. Perhaps an issue with the
page delay not being honored? Our pagetype is "EVENT." Here are the
relevant config lines from bbwarnrules.cfg:
*;;*;;*;*;admin@ourdomain.com
hg-hostgroup1;;*;;*;*;ext-ex4-pager_email:~7-240
Any ideas?
Thanks again,
Jason
