There's no compromise.  Do it the way you want.  It's all very doable.

If all your machines are in the DMZ, then yes, both the DMZ and non-DMZ

machines have to have the same list, just add noconn to all the hosts
in 
the bb-hosts file on the BBDISPLAY.

The BBDISPLAY needs to have the servers in the bb-hosts file to be 
displayed.  There's not really a way to turn off the BBNET
functionality, 
other than to not put that directive (BBNET) on the host's line in the

bb-hosts file.  Then restart the server and your BBNET/BBDISPLAY 
server won't do any bbnet tests.
