Purple page messages are generated on the server because it is able
to identify "stale" data. The red and yellow page messages are
produced on the client side in order to build in fault tolerance.
With multiple BBPAGER servers, each will get a message and you will
still receive the alert, as long as at least one of the servers is
up.
You can either install the BB client software on that machine and
use the client "bb" binary from your script (running it as a normal
BB extension), or you can modify your script to mimic the client
binary and generate the "page" messages.
If you opt for the former, you can disable the standard client tests
if you don't want them. If you stay with the latter, you should have
a look at the source for the "bbnotify" routine in the client binary
and replicate as much of the functionality as you need. There might
also be some scripts on the Deadcat site that are designed to work
without the client. If so, they should serve as a good framework
for developing your script.
Cheers, Phil.
