Re: {bb} bb cpu and disk not displaying on the bbserver

Like most daemons, bb will not reread the config file without being restarted.

You never provide enough information. I assume you added that to bost bb-hosts files. You do not say whether you've made sure that the client and the server are both running.

Thanks for the information,
Modified bb-hosts to include the BBNET and BBPAGER 66.240.178.227 www102.mediaserve.net # BBPAGER BBNET BBDISPLAY ftp pop3 smtp ssh http://www102.mediaserve.net/

Also verified bbclient is running 5484 ? S 0:00 /bin/sh ./runbb.sh start

On the bbvar/logs on the server it only shows these: -rw-r--r-- 1 bb bb 404 Jan 27 2006 www102,mediaserve,net.conn -rw-r--r-- 1 bb bb 212 Jan 27 2006 www102,mediaserve,net.ftp -rw-r--r-- 1 bb bb 368 Jan 27 2006 www102,mediaserve,net.http -rw-r--r-- 1 bb bb 172 Jan 27 2006 www102,mediaserve,net.pop3 -rw-r--r-- 1 bb bb 276 Jan 27 2006 www102,mediaserve,net.smtp -rw-r--r-- 1 bb bb 176 Jan 27 2006 www102,mediaserve,net.ssh

Which is correct, but the disk/cpu display still not showing up.

Thanks,
David

Hello,

I just recently installed bbserver and a bbclient on a couple
servers, bbserver displays everything except for the cpu and
disk

Here is the line I have in my bb-hosts file on the client

66.240.178.227 www102.mediaserve.net # BBDISPLAY ftp pop3
 smtp ssh cpu disk http://www102.mediaserve.net

The bb-hosts on the bbserver is the same.

bb-dftab and bb-cputab on the client have also been configured.

Iptables have been turned off on both servers for this testing phase.

The line from bb-hosts should be more like:

66.240.178.227 www102.mediaserve.net # BBDISPLAY BBNET BBPAGER ftp
 pop3 smtp ssh http://www102.mediaserve.net/

Specifically, unless you have another machine acting and as BBNET
and BBPAGER, you'll need to define one here in order to get
network tests and alert messages. The directives "cpu" and "disk"
are not required. Only network tests (and some external scripts)
need to be defined in bb-hosts. Although not necessary, a URL
should end in a filename or a "slash". Like most browsers, BB will
add one if you forget but it's still a good habit to get into.

The files bb-dftab and bb-cputab are not strictly necessary. BB
will use default values if they are not present, so I'd move them
out of the way until you have things working.

The first thing to check is that the client is actually running.
Check the contents of the BBOUT log file on the client side and
the output of the "ps" command to confirm this.

The next probable cause is that the client is not reporting with
the expected name (www102.mediaserve.net). Have a look in the
BBVAR/logs directory and see if there are logfiles being created
under another name. If this is the case, you can use the
etc/bbaliasname file (section 6.15 in the on-line manual) to
specify the required name.

Cheers, Phil.
