Re: {bb} log file with dynamic extension

Any other solution out there about how to monitor a log file of logfile.mmddyy format?

The way I handled this type of issue was to link the current file to another file with a static name, such as "oracle.log.current".  Then I set up a crontab entry to relink to the next day's file at midnight.  Then I set up BB to monitor the linked file.  Crude, yes, but it works.

Subject: {bb} log file with dynamic extension

How do I monitor a log file whose extension is like this .`date +%m%d%y`?

This is bascially a log file created by oracle and it looks like this

/var/log/oracle.log.`date +%m%d%y`

Can I place a log file exactly like the same above format in the bb-msgtab file? I do not want to scan the all log files but just current date.

Thanks
