Hi,

Checkout smsclient (http://www.smsclient.org) I've used it for a long time 
already without any problems. You can find the list of supported providers 
here: http://www.smsclient.org/providers.php
it uses a normal modem to dial in on the providers sms server.

Hi All,

  I live in France and I look for a way to send SMS by BigBrother with a 
Linux machine. I don't want to use GSM modem or HTTP / SMS Gateway. I 
would like to monitor the state of internet connection and I have only a 
simpe modem.

Do you have any idea or experiment with SMS ?
