Don't know statrrd.sh but the root issue would be that rrdtool protects
against updating statistics databases too frequently.
Does it happen every time you start up BB, or does it happen once per
update cycle?
Have you tried stopping BB, and then double and triple-checking with PS
to ensure all associated processes have been terminated before
restarting? Either you have two processes trying to store the same data
at nearly the same time, or your system thinks that two different pieces
of data belong in the same file, or -- this happened to me a couple
times when troubleshooting custom larrd scripts -- you restarted too
quickly and it is trying to update a database it had just updated.

Hi,
we have the same phenomena while running more then one instance of a
client on one machine using different names for $MACHINE and different
IP. Starting the second (and third) client with delay helps for some
time, then the problem occurs again. After a while (~ 1h) it seems that
the two processes differ again and the problem doesn't occur until next
time. In our case it is not BigBrother (there we don't use rrd) but
hobbit but that shouldn't matter.
Unfortunately I haven't found a solution for that and I didn't dive into
larrd source code as my C isn't that good.
kind regards
Rolf
Hi,
We have been running Big Brother for years including statrrd but
recently I have been getting the following error messages in BBOUT
every
time it runs.
ERROR: illegal attempt to update using time 1140691546 when last update
time is 1140691546 (minimum one second step)
/export/home/bb/bb/ext/statrrd/statrrd.sh: line 51: [: =: unary
operator
expected
I get about 5 of these messages and I can't understand why this has
suddenly started happening as I havn't changed the statrrd.sh script at
all, The graphing is working fine as far as I can see. Any help or
suggestions would be greatly appreciated as its been driving me nuts
for
a couple of days now.
Thanks
