Is the "red" status constant for this test, or intermittent? Was
it previously "green" and recently develop this problem?
I read this message as saying that there is a significant delay
between the socket connection succeeding and the remote daemon
responding. It's possible that this might be due to something like
a reverse DNS look-up. Ideally, you should look at ssh on that host
to see if it can be made more responsive.
As an alternative, it should be possible to write a small external
script to use bbnet with longer BBNETTIMER values on this test.
Cheers, Phil.

Real computer scientists despise the idea of actual hardware.
Hardware has limitations, software doesn't. It's a real shame
that Turing machines are so poor at I/O.
