{bb} Getting alerts emailed internally

Many apologies if this is off-topic, but it appears to be a real sticking
point to us seeing full-functionality to our implementation of bb here.
With this list population, I figure someone out there has had the same
problem we are having, and has a simple fix. I am sure it is simple, but I
am missing just one, or two fine points that is keeping the thing from
working.

I am able to get bb alerts routed to external email addresses with
absolutely no problems. What I _can't_ do is get any email delivered to
internal accounts. We have the Exchange server email routed to the exchange
server via port 500, or so. It goes through a virus/spam firewall and gets
rerouted to port 500 from there. I am using postfix to handle email on our
FC4 bb monitor server. This was installed after not being able to deliver
the internal email via sendmail.

I have found in the /etc/postfix/transport file, about routing email to
domains that have alternate ports enabled on the mail servers. It goes
something like this:

my.domain.edu	smtp:[mailserver.my.domain.edu]:500

where the [ ] supposedly suppress MX lookups (I have tried both with and
without the brackets). If I add this line to /etc/postfix/transport, and
restart postfix, and try to send a test email, the email to
user@my.domain.edu gets refused, like always.

If I add this line to /etc/postfix/main.cf and restart postfix, the same
thing happens with test emails.

Does anyone out there have any idea what I am doing wrong? We have already
added a connector in Exchange to allow the bb monitor server to relay mail
to Exchange. It should just work.

Again, mea culpa if I am going way out of protocol here. Thank you for any
assistance.
