RE: {bb} Status paging for the bb server

Phil,

Thanks, I may give that script a try.  Our bbpager is on the same machine as
the bbserver.  Actually, it doesn't actually page, as probably few do these
days, but jus sends an email to a list in bbwarnsetup.cfg.  I just want to
be notified a couple of times a day, in case things get quiet, to make sure
the bb server is running as it should.

My take on this is that the key component is the BBPAGER machine. As
long as that is OK, you will be notified of any other part that has
a problem. As a result, the recommended way to ensure a robust BB
set-up is to configure a failover BBPAGER machine.

As an alternative, you could configure a "cron" job to send a "page"
message for a fictitious host. Something like:

  export BBHOME=/usr/local/bb/bbc1.9g-btf
  . $BBHOME/etc/bbdef.sh

  LINE="page unreal,mydomain,com.chime red `date`
  This message is for information only.
  Nothing to see here."

  $BB $BBDISP "$LINE"
