RE: {bb} Oracle Monitoring

Exactly.  It has a config file where you put the instance name and the tables you wish to monitor.  Oh...and one more thing...you have to add "bbuser" to the Oracle users table with read access to some of the systems tables.  I'm not a DBA...I asked out DBA to make those changes.  It is all documented with the script.

Oh ok so the moracle script would go on the bbclient machine and report back to  the BBserver right?

You must install the "moracle" script on the server that houses the Oracle database.  It is an external script that can be found on deadcat.net.

How do I setup the remote checks?  as in would it be done with a tns file or oratab file?  What would the oratab or tns file look like?

thanks
Vince

That is correct.

So I am assuming that I would not have to set the Oracle Enviroment Variables on the BB server user?

I use "moracle".  Oracle does not have to be installed on the BB server.

Subject: {bb} Oracle Monitoring

Hello all,

I am looking to monitor Oracle that is on a remote server.  What would be the best way to do this, since I do not have an Oracle db installed on my BB server.

I have looked at the Roracle script but wasn't sure if this was meant to run on the BB server with an oracle db locally on it or was it meant to be installed on the server with the client on it.

Thanks in advance
Vince
