Or maybe the URL is just malformed seeing that it is having issues due
to the lack of RRD files.

It looks as if this error is triggered by the grapher GCI being unable
to determine the required service from the URL that is passed to it.
That URL should look something like this:

  http://bb.mydom.com/cgi-bin/
    larrd-grapher.cgi?host=bb.mydom.com&service=la

These URLs are created by larrd in response to the data that it finds.
So, if they are malformed, it might provide more clues about what is
going wrong. The LARRDOUT log file might also contain additional
information.
