I don't know if the use of UNC paths requires any special handling.
I imagine that only the authors will be able to give you a definitive
answer to that.

However, it's probably not a recommended technique since, if you lose
your Samba server, the test would not run. Distributing the script to
each client would probably be the safest way to proceed. As you have
already tried, using a local script to load the remote one is likely
to be next best. That way, you can place defaults or fall-back alerts
in the local part and keep the rest in a central location (for admin-
istrative purposes).
