That is the default BB behaviour, which is what I would expect without
patching.

Henrik (author of bbgen) made updated patches available for 1.9h here:

  http://www.hswn.dk/hobbitsw/bbgen/bbgen-3.6/bbpatches/1.9h-server/

Bbgen is no longer being developed and these patches are untested (by
him), so you may have to fiddle with a few things.

If the 1.9h patches do not work, you would need to make the equivalent
modifications manually to get the same functionality.
