Thanks so much for taking the time to help.
I will look into all your suggestions and try it out.
I never ran bb1.9i before. I still have bb18c and bb19e. This was the
first time to try to use bb19i.

That's not normally a problem. It's not a BB thing anyway.

That does look odd. Are you sure that is the full line? Normally, the
colour is is added as a replacement so that, even if it is empty, you
would still get something like bb/gifs/bkg-.gif

One thing that has been reported to produce problems with background
colours are "head" (and also possibly "tail") utility commands which
don't accept syntax like "head -1" to grab the first line. If that form
gives you an error, you will have to use something like "head -n 1"
instead.

The impression that I had was the bbgen had it's own larrd config to
provide closer integration. I may be wrong, but you might have to do
something extra on the bbgen side.
