This would be another bbgen thing. From what I can see, you should
specify the environment variable LARRDS somewhere (bbdef-server.sh
would be my guess) like so:

  LARRDS="bbtest=larrdname"
  export LARRDS


Have there been any developments with your other problems? If not,
I could send you my version of the 1.9i patches so that you can
compare and contrast.
