I'd guess that many folks favourite tool, for a job like this, would be
cURL. I've often used it to provide command line access to remote web
interfaces. You should take a look at Sean's "cont" test, and the
modified "cont2" version (both on Deadcat). They are more general than
you would need, but they should give you some useful clues.
