{bb} temptrax not working

I'm trying to get a sensatronics (http://www.sensatronics.com/) EM1 probe working with the temptrax.pl script and it is not cooperating for me.  Wondering if anybody has it working for them?  I've read the posts in the archive but I'm still having a problem.  


my bb-hosts file has an entry like:
# This is the my bbserver and bbhome machine
192.168.100.100 	bbserver	# ttrax conn
# This is my temperature probe
192.168.100.101	probe		# http://probe/

bbwarnsetup.cfg has an entry like:
svcerrlist: disk:100 ttrax:911 conn:500   etc...

bbexttab has and entry like:
bbserver: ext : bb-temptrax.pl

My server is a sparc Solaris 8 running 1.9c and I'm using the temptrax.pl script from dead-cat with just the -f flag removed from hostname command.   I have defined my $device="192.168.100.101" and my $testname = 'ttrax'

My web page keeps giving me a:  PANIC: Probe 2 reads 0.0F

The actual page looks fine http://probe and gives correct reading for the single probe that is connected to the Probe 1 port.  I've since tried it in Probe 2 but still get the error.  I have reset the defaults on the EM1 and then reconfigured.  
My feeling is that it might be an issue with temptrax.pl but I can't find it.  Any help?
