RE: {bb} BB- forbidden error
No problem.
You are missing a "." at the end of the chown command.
Should be "chown -R bigbrother ."
I think you may have missed an apache config (httpd.conf) somewhere that
allows the web server to follow links or have an incorrectly setup stanza
in the apache config that points where the html files for the
"/bb" virtual directory are located.
Hope I'm pointing you in the right direction.

Sorry- I was weary to put my
lack of knowledge out there so I overlooked the fact that I didn?t give
all of the Info.
I?m running Red Hat Linux (not enterprise) with Apache.
Yes, when I browse to the host name, I see the default apache web
page. When I browse to hostname/bb, I get a forbidden message.
I will point out the one thing that didn?t work for me. Reading
from the Readme.Install, step 5 didn?t work for me. Maybe that?s
the problem?
(Step 5
from the directions?)
5. cd ../..
ln -s
<bbdir> bb where <bbdir> is the new version directory (e.g.
bb1.9i-btf)
This
is useful as you don't have to change the directory in your
startup script. (see section 11)
cd bb
chown -R bbuser
. where bbuser is the user you
defined
in the install process. This makes sure
that the bbuser can write/read into
the BB directory sttructure as you will
probably install while in the root account
cd
..
chown
-R bbuser bbvar
Here's my input and error-
[bigbrother@bbhost etc]$ cd ../..
[bigbrother@bbhost bigbrother]$ ln -s /home/bigbrother/bb1.9i-btf bb
[bigbrother@bbhost bigbrother]$ cd bb
[bigbrother@bbhost bb]$ chown -R bigbrother
chown: too few arguments
Try `chown --help' for more information.
[bigbrother@bbhost bb]$

Hi Jay,
You didn't
mention the OS you are installing it on. Is this a unix or window's
install?
Next, is
there a web server running on the platform? (Apache on unix or IIS
on windows)?
can you browser
to http://hostname
?
that's
where I'd start first.
Hope this helps,
Paul

The directions for the install of bb didn't mention any configuration
of
the HTTP service. When I browse to /bb, I get a forbidden
message.

Any help is appreciated...
