Thanks for the information Katharina.

I have had servers running on various versions of SuSE, but the most
recent I've used is 9.2 (32 bit). I don't think that there is anything
inherent in the OS or architecture that would cause this problem. My
guess would be that SElinux has something to do with it, but we'll
probably need to wait for it to happen to a few other people before
it's possible to be confident of that.
