It looks to be all better now but, as an alternative, I sometimes
use Google and the like to search the archives. You can get plain
search just by prepending the mailing list address, like so:

    +bb@bb4.com +"my search"

It's important to look at the "similar matches" results as well,
because Google will treat different messages as similar enough
to hide one of them.
